Position Description:
The Division of Hematology and Oncology, a part of the Department of Medicine with the Medical College of Wisconsin seeks candidates for a hybrid Oncologic Hospitalist/Nocturnist faculty position. Rank for this position is open.
- The Oncologic Hospitalist Service provides 24 hour-a-day inpatient care to solid tumor oncology patients or to patients requiring management of malignancies of the hematopoietic system.
- Our inpatient services admit approximately 1,500 patients per year.
- This position will work in collaboration with hematology and oncology providers in the Division of Hematology and Oncology.
- The Oncologic Hospitalist team is staffed with a hybrid model involving collaborative care provided by both hospitalists and oncology faculty.
- The oncologic hospitalists on the service are Internal Medicine trained physicians and manage the day-to-day care of the patients with oncologists providing the necessary oncologic expertise.
- For all shifts, a team of dedicated and expertly-trained advanced practice providers, fellows and housestaff also work alongside of the hospitalist in this model and round out the care delivery team.
Successful candidates for this position have the opportunity to be involved in the teaching of students and housestaff. Candidates also have an opportunity for participation in Division research programs, including clinical trials.
Qualified candidates must have excellent clinical skills and must be board certified/board eligible in internal medicine. Highly competitive salary and benefits are offered for successful candidates.
The Division & Cancer CenterThe Division of Hematology and Oncology has 70 faculty and 14 fellows and more than 80 advanced practice providers. It also has a dedicated inpatient and ambulatory care facility, an integrated Palliative Care program and close clinical and research interactions with Surgical and Radiation Oncology, the Blood Center of Wisconsin and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Registry (CIBMTR). This Division is an active member of ECOG-ACRIN.
