Mountain Sunrise Academy, a Waldorf charter school in Saratoga Springs, UT, is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the 2025-2026 school year. Rooted in the Waldorf educational philosophy, our school fosters a holistic, developmentally appropriate approach that emphasizes creativity, movement, and hands-on learning. We believe in nurturing the head, heart, and hands of every child through an arts-integrated curriculum, outdoor education, and a strong sense of community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for students with speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Collaborate closely with teachers and interventionists to integrate speech and language strategies into daily classroom instruction.
- Support students with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia, by integrating evidence-based literacy strategies into therapy sessions.
- Conduct evaluations and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide professional development and coaching for teachers on best practices for speech and language development, early literacy instruction, and classroom accommodations.
- Participate in the Three Streams Intervention Team (Academic, Social-Emotional, Behavioral) to develop student support strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum materials and instructional strategies to better support students with speech and language challenges.
- Utilize structured literacy approaches to help bridge the gap between oral language and written communication, reinforcing the connection between speech, reading, and writing.
- Engage with families and caregivers, providing resources and strategies to support speech, language, and literacy development at home.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Utah SLP Licensure.
- LETRS Training (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) or a strong background in structured literacy and early reading development.
- Experience in a school-based setting, preferably with early childhood and elementary-aged students.
- Expertise in language development as it relates to reading acquisition.
- Strong ability to collaborate with teachers to create integrated learning experiences that support language and literacy growth across subjects.
- Familiarity with the Waldorf education philosophy or a willingness to learn and integrate Waldorf-aligned approaches to child development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player within an interdisciplinary intervention team.
