At Woodhull Medical Center, an affiliate of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, we are seeking full time and part time physician assistants specializing in Internal Medicine (inpatient only) to join our team of professionals within our Medicine Department.
The selected candidate and must be dedicated to exceptional patient care in addition to delivering the highest quality medical services that meet all medical standards and regulatory requirements. The selected Physician Assistant candidate will provide comprehensive care serving the needs of adults in all areas of medicine, including: Mental health, addiction medicine and treatment involving the cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, neurologic, nervous systems, etc. Candidates must have an outstanding record of team building, a commitment to teaching academic excellence, as well as the ability to collaborate with administrative and clinical leaders to ensure optimal, compassionate care.
Responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including the attending physician colleagues to improve quality of care, efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery including the best patient experience.
- Participate in the development, and implementation of programs and measures to optimize the appropriate utilization of medical services, quality assurance and patient satisfaction.
- The practitioner will be responsibility for assessment and management of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, implementation, and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care, and ongoing evaluation.
- Works collaboratively with the attending physician to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, house staff, other disciplines and ancillary services
- Performs delegated clinical duties effectively and efficiently
- Prescribes in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as member of the interdisciplinary team
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and excellent critical thinking skills
- At least 2 years of clinical rotation in various medical, surgical and other specialty areas
- Maintains annual CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging
- Maintains current expertise in area of practice
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Core Values and incorporates them into the performance of responsibilities
- To qualify you must have a Physician Assistant Bachelor's Degree (BA-PA)
- Current New York State Physician Assistant License
- BLs or ACLS
- Required Licenses: Physician Assistant Lic-NYS, Ntl Com Cert Physician Asst
Salary Range: $121,000 - $168,000
